Visit Cardiff in winter!
Cardiff has been the capital of Wales since 1955 and it was always important due to its docks, built in 18th century, from where the coal was shipped throughout the world. The name of the city means "the fort on the Taff": fort refers to that established by the Romans, and Taff is the river which Cardiff Castle stands on. I would like to tell you about the beautiful winter in Cardiff. More specific, how you can spent your days there and also about the most comfortable Cardiff accommodation.
There are a lot of events organized for this year (2010). First of all The Great British Cheese Festival, organized since 1994, will be held at the end of September. It will take place in Cardiff Castle, where at the end the three best cheeses will be rewarded with medals. The awards ceremony will be judged by food experts and farmers. You can take your friends and family with you.
In November there will be The Sparks in the Park, held since 1981. It will take place at the beginning of November behind Cardiff Castle (Bute Park). There will be beautiful fireworks, the best ones in Cardiff in the whole year. The humanitarian side has not been forgotten; all money collected will be given for charitable organisations, such as Cardiff Round Table. From the 10th of November 2010 to 3rd of January 2011, the Cardiff's Winter Wonderland 2010 will take place. There will be an Open Air Ice Rink, an Ice Café Bar and the spectacular John Lewis Wheel. Beautiful music and Christmas carols will entertain you the whole the evening.
If you have nothing to do during the day, you can go shopping to the largest shopping centre in UK, Cardiff's St. David's Centre. It is perfect place to find the Christmas presents! If you do not like shopping, you can spend your time by visiting Millennium Stadium, the home of Wales National Rugby Union Team. Outside the building the architecture is a work of art and inside there is the second largest stadium in the world.
Surely you have to find a hotel in Cardiff and the city is full of them. Cardiff hotels are known for the good customer service and good price-quality relation.
